Papers and Canvas

Photo Paper: Excellent colour and detail with a moderate satin reflectivity. Does not have a texture of its own, so ideal for reproducing highly textured originals as well as photographic images. Photo prints must be protected from scratches and wrinkles by being mounted and framed under glass or acrylic.

Cotton Paper: Excellent detail with rich colour and a matte finish. Slightly textured fine art paper works well with black and white photography, graphic art and traditional media reproductions. Bare cotton paper must be framed under glass or plastic as the surface is fragile.

Wrapped Canvas: Frameless, a.k.a. gallery wrap, is a contemporary style without a visible frame. The canvas wraps around the stretching bars, hiding all details of construction. Standard bar size is 3/4” deep to the wall, with 1.5” inch available by request.

Rolled Canvas: Printed and protected but delivered rolled for you to stretch and mount yourself.

About canvas -- image printed on gesso-base 100% cotton canvas fabric. Canvas prints have a rich texture due to the fabric weave that enhances many images. After printing, canvas is clear-coated for protection from dust and casual contact. Canvas is vulnerable to piercing, creasing and tearing and must be handled with care. Framed or wrapped canvas compares well in the on-the-wall price to traditionally framed prints, as canvas requires neither mat nor glass.

Colour Correction

If I've captured your artwork, you don't need to worry about colour correction -- It's taken care of.

If you're sending your artwork to me, then this section is important. The whole point of using someone like me to print your images is getting great colour and quality. To ensure great colour, you need to make use of colour correction (ICC) profiles. You should profile your monitor so you know that what you see on your screen is correct. And you should get profiles for your printers so you know that what you print will look like what you see on your screen.

When using a third-party printing service, a good service will keep ICC profiles ready for their customers to use for soft proofing -- previewing on your own monitor what the print will look like on the paper. To that end, ICC files for each of these surfaces on my printer are available for soft proofing and gamut check. Write me and I will email the ones you need directly.

Shipping

Prints are placed in a tube for protection unless your entire order is 11x14 or smaller, in which case everything will be put in a sturdy padded envelope. If you don't want rolled prints, we can arrange flat shipping at an extra cost.

  • Local pickup of all work is free.
  • Shipping bare prints to Canadian destinations is $10 per parcel.
  • Shipping bare prints to the US is $15 per parcel.
  • Shipping stretched or framed prints is by size and weight. Ask for an estimate.

Service to other countries is not recommended (you should seek a local supplier of printing services) but I will accommodate your request with a quote should you ask.

Currency and Payment

All prices are in Canadian dollars.
Taxes are not included in prices shown above.
Payments can be made via credit card or PayPal transfer.
Local customers only may pay by check.

How to Get Started

If I've captured your artwork, just tell me the desired size and media for each piece you want to print: I've kept a copy of your files just for this purpose. Otherwise, I print from a high quality JPG (quality 10 or greater) with embedded colour space, a Photoshop file (single layer please), or a TIFF image with embedded colour space.

Getting Your Images to Me

Files under 10MB can be emailed; larger files can be downloaded from your website, sent via "yousendit.com" or can be burned on a CD/DVD or USB memory stick and sent via post. Your memory stick will be returned with your prints; your CD will be kept on file. Other options are possible, let's discuss.

Quality and Care

Your prints will be made by a professional photographer (me) who will give the same attention to quality in making your prints as I give to my own. If you are not satisfied with your prints, I want to understand why and will, if at all possible, work with you to correct the problem.

This gallery has no photos to display yet.

Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
